PROSTHETIC DEVICES I
The movie Dolphin Tale inspires the first of three STEM projects.
Prosthetic devices challenged everyone's creativity and commitment to being a Stemgineer!
Students follow the Engineering Design Process and the 8 steps. * Identify the problem * Investigate * Use your imagination * Make a plan * Create * Develop * Test * Communicate Every project must get my approval. Then we showcase and share with the school, administration and parents what's been learned.
I was impressed with the students' capacity to use their creativity and develop more designs than what was initially asked. The students confirmed their reliance on using typical materials (glue/tape) had no bearing in this project. This was one of the constraints presented and everyone rose to the challenge by using the materials available.
As a teacher, this project confirmed I must believe in the work done by each STEMgineer and there is something I can always learn from them.
