STUDIO NPL, A 3D PRINTER and i3 GRANT!

Building relationships guarantees benefits for all involved.

Studio NPL (Nashville Public Library) is a powerful asset to our schools.

Why? Because their relationship with i3 Grant (our STEM after school program) facilitated the acquisition of a 3D printer to be used at Oliver Middle school.

I received training from Zach, Niq and Rebecca. I am beyond grateful... They had to repeat some things over and over!! Yes, I am learning!!

It was a magical day... the student's reaction to being told this new acquisition is a part of the curriculum was delightful (see video below).

Today, we learned about programming to eventually design and print a masterpiece.

This project was targeted for 7th and 8th graders. Programming is such a key part of learning and thru STEAM technology is emphasized. Now, 5th and 6th grade will also benefit from this venture, because Studio NPL agreed to extend their visits till the end of the year! So thankful...

What is the story of the castle that was printed?

Thomais V. Moshopoulos, one of our students, co-wrote with her mom Yadira V. Calderon the book to be published - Autism: The Happy Kingdom. A fun and inspiring story about acceptance and inclusion. A designer in Ukraine created the file that we use (which can be adapted in size, etc).

This experience is full of dynamism... every classroom can benefit from the 3D printer -- thus confirming learning, interaction, engagement... remains a priority at Oliver Middle!
